Reset Button on the OV80i
This page explains the purpose of the Reset button on the OV80i camera, including the recovery button for regaining network access when the device becomes unreachable.
Where Is the Button?
The Reset button is located on the top panel of the OV80i.
- Micro-USB provides emergency access to the UI at
http://192.168.55.1regardless of Ethernet configuration. - HDMI provides a read-only HMI display (1920x1080) for real-time visualization.
- USB-A/C are reserved for future/support use and do not provide UI connectivity.
What the Reset Button Does
| Action | Press Duration | Function | Safe for Customer Use? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reset | Short press (tap) | Restarts the camera software | Yes |
| Recovery | Long press (hold) | Resets network configuration to a known-good state | Yes |
Short Press: Restart
A short press (tap) restarts the camera software. Use this when:
- The camera UI becomes unresponsive
- The camera stops responding to triggers or inspection cycles
- You've changed a setting that needs a restart
What happens internally:
- The camera reboots the operating system
- All inspection recipes, logs, and network settings remain intact
- No data is erased
If a short press does not resolve the issue, try a full power cycle (disconnect and reconnect power). A software restart and a full power cycle are not identical, and some issues may only clear with a complete power cycle.
Long Press: Recovery Button
A long press of the recovery button resets the network configuration to a known-good state, making it easy to regain access if the device becomes unreachable. The camera does not reboot during recovery. It instantly resets the network config, stops the Profinet process, and generates flags that a watchdog service detects and applies. These changes persist across reboots.
When to use the recovery button
- The camera has a misconfigured IP address and you can no longer reach it
- An industrial protocol conflict (Profinet or EtherNet/IP) is blocking access
- An HTTPS certificate issue prevents the browser from connecting
- You've locked yourself out of the device and need to start fresh with network settings
What the recovery button does
When you hold the recovery button, the following happens instantly (no reboot required):
| Setting | Recovery behavior | After next reboot |
|---|---|---|
| IP address | Resets to DHCP with a static fallback of 10.250.0.100 | Stays at recovered settings until you reconfigure |
| Profinet | Temporarily disabled | Re-enabled automatically |
| EtherNet/IP | Temporarily disabled | Re-enabled automatically |
| HTTPS | Falls back to HTTP | HTTPS resumes automatically |
The green LED on the camera confirms the recovery reset is in progress.
How to use the recovery button
- Press and hold the recovery button on the top panel of the OV80i
- Wait for the green LED to confirm the reset is in progress
- Release the button
- Connect to the camera at
10.250.0.100(the static fallback IP) or check your DHCP server for the assigned address - Open
http://10.250.0.100in your browser (HTTP, not HTTPS) - Reconfigure your network settings as needed
Recovery mode resets network settings only. Your inspection recipes, AI models, logs, and other data are not affected. However, you will need to reconfigure your IP address, industrial protocol settings, and HTTPS certificate after using recovery mode.
What does NOT reset
- Inspection recipes and configurations
- Trained AI models
- Captured images and logs
- User accounts and permissions
